Founder
Dr. Dan Sturtevant is a researcher in software architecture and engineering management. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Systems from MIT and has worked in both industry and academia to analyze and improve software design quality.
Before founding Silverthread, he worked as a software engineer, architect, and manager at organizations including MathWorks and General Dynamics. His research at MIT and Harvard Business School focused on how software complexity affects cost, risk, and performance. He has worked with commercial firms and government agencies to apply these insights to large-scale software modernization efforts.
At Silverthread, Dr. Sturtevant led the development of the CodeMRI® Suite, a set of tools that analyze software architecture and identify areas for improvement. His work helps organizations understand the financial impact of software design decisions and implement strategies to improve system maintainability and security.
